Annabella at State
November 12, 2023
Annabella's had to climb quite the hill to get to State. It wasn't just the hill at Blackwell or KLM, but she had to go from running a three-mile "long run" at the beginning of the season, getting back into shape, and suffering an injury that had her off running for weeks. Many runners would have given up after an injury similar to Annabella's, but Annabella did everything she could without running during that time and came back strong at the IHSA Regional meet. She qualified as an individual with her teammate Andy, and then was the fifth individual qualifier at the IHSA Sectional meet at Lewis University.
Annabella had a goal at State to run a P.R. While she wasn't able to achieve that goal, the fact that she made it to State was an accomplishment given all she went through. A fan bus of a few of her teammates drove down to watch her run and cheer her on. Annabella had a great running career at Hinsdale South and is moving on to show her drive at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
