2006 Season

This year was intended to be a building year for the Lady Hornets Cross Country team. However, they exceed head coach Gail Huster's expectations. "This year we ended up making many improvements," said the Huster. "We were a competitive team and everyone ran hard."
Due to the many improvements this season, the team was competitive all year long. They were a close team and helped push each other to run to the best of their abilities. Coach Huster was pleased to watch the girls perform as well as they did with such determination and eagerness. "Everyone ran better this year than they did last season," said Huster.
"This was by far my best season, and I improved all my times from last year," said senior Julie Bartocci.
The Minooka Invite was a big help in getting the girls more determined for the rest of the season. Fourth place in the meet was a spot that told them that they had the ability to run with the rest of the teams that were there. "We knew we could compete with the other schools," said Huster, "but the regional got tough when we realized the we had a bunch of great teams." Hinsdale Central, this year's state champ, was one of the 12 teams in the race that was really competitive. Downers Grove North was also in the Hornets regional.
The future is looking bright for the Hornets who are relying on their young runners for the next few years. "Paige [Copeland], Amanda [Gauthier], and I always ran to the best of our abilities and strived to make each other better," said senior Lydia Wentland.
