1993 Season

For the past 15 years, the girls cross-country team has been the only one in the West Suburban Gold (WSG) Conference to remain in the top three. This year, the girls team improved their overall performance in every meet. Liz Reese, Most Valuable Runner for the second year in a row, said, “I think the team was a lot stronger this year because everyone worked together. We did much better than we have in the past.”
Reese, Erika Coull-Parenty, and Rachael Folk were named All-Conference for the season and advanced to regionals, with Coull-Parenty advancing to Sectionals, where she became the first girl in ten years to make state. In the state meet, she earned All-State honors, and the Chicago Tribune named her Athlete of the Week.
Having a conference record of 4-2 was only part of their success throughout the season. One of the highlights was a varsity third place finish and JV first place at the Niles West Invite, one of the largest cross-country meets in the country.
