Hinsdale South Cross Country

1995 Season

With the close of the cross country-season, history was made by Erika-Coull Parenty. She became South's first girls cross country athlete to make it to the state meet for three consecutive years. She placed 20th at state, which led her to a second All-State title.

The team proved, once again, to be an outstanding success. Since 1978 the team has stood alone in being the only one to place in the top three at each West Suburban Gold Conference. Although many injuries caused setbacks to several members, it did not stop them from receiving their 3rd place title.

The conference meet was the highlight of the season. Rose Deato said, "Conference was awesome. Six varsity members were All-Conference, as well as five from the junior varsity level."

Many of the younger members looked up to the upperclassmen. Celina Mohovich said, "Katie Moss and Erika Coull-Parenty were leaders and role models for the whole team."

Many new and old members of the team dedicated themselves to the sport, making the outcome commendable. Coach Mike Madsen said about the new and younger members, "This year has been a learning experience for the team. Many new abilities came together."
