Why run when you can walk? Cross-country runners Colleen Carr, Becka Duvall, and Andrea Dennison share their experiences on the team.
Q: Do you have any activities that you do during your season as a team?
Carr: We have pasta parties at different people's houses. Before conference, we went to see Remember the Titans and tee-peed the coaches' houses.
Q: What are the bonuses about being a runner?
Duvall: All the girls on the team, because we know each other and have fun together.
Q: Do you have a team "ritual" that you do before your meet?
Dennison: Every meet the team does a short cheer to get everyone pumped up.
Q: On average, how many miles do you run at practice?
Duvall: Our average is about 5 miles a day. Some days are easier where we run 3-4 miles and then our long, hard practices are 7 miles.
Q: Why do you push yourself through all that pain and suffering?
Carr: Sometimes I ask myself the same question–just kidding! It is a great way to relax and it gives us a chance to think about things. It helps motivate us and enjoy the feeling we get when we accomplish a goal.
