2004 Season

The girls cross country team ran their way into a tie for Hinsdale South's first conference championship this year. The team finished the season with a 5-1 record.
Senior Megan Christenson, a team captain along with Maureen O'Connell, proudly stated, "It was the best season of cross country the team ever had. As a senior, it was great to see all the girls come together in the end. Half the team was seniors, and we grew up together on cross country, and it was great to share the conference title with them."
At the conference meet, the girls ran an outstanding race, especially senior Laurie Sperlak who ran a personal best time of 19:30. "For the past four years we've been battling with Downers Grove, and every single girl knew how important it was and gave it their all," Sperlak said.
Junior Danielle Mutters added, "This season was a blast and I could not have shared the conference championship with a better group of girls!" Mutters was a number one runner for most of the season, with her best time this year being 19:36 at the Katherine Legge Park Dual Meet.
This year was a personal best senior for senior Kim Vlcek, who was named this year's most improved runner. Vlcek trained by running 300 miles this summer, became a varsity runner, and achieved her top time of 21:05 at the KLM Dual Meet.
Overall, it was quite a memorable season for everyone. Coach Lara Jarman said, "I am really proud of these girls because they believed in themselves and that is was led them to the title!"
